Tips for Using Your UCB Credit Card

With the convenience and benefits that you get from Union Commercial Bank’s credit card which is becoming an essential item in your daily life, we would like to share some useful tips, which can be easily adapted to better protect and manage your credit card.

1) Tips on Credit Card Usage  

  • Upon receiving your card, you should immediately sign on the signature panel at the back of the card. Do not let anyone else to use your card.
  • Keep your card in a safe place and away from magnetized object. Do not bend or scratch the card.
  • Check the transaction receipt particularly the purchase amount before you sign them and ensure the card is returned back to you after each transaction.
  • Keep the copy of transaction receipts for reference.

If you realize or suspect your card has been lost or stolen, notify us immediately by calling 023 214 159 (24 hours). 

2) Tips on Personal Identification Number (PIN)

  • Memorize your PIN and don't write it down anywhere.
  • Do not disclose PIN to other person, including your supplementary cardholders, family members, bank staff or even the police.
  • Do not choose a PIN that is easily associated with your personal information e.g. birth date or phone number.
  • Do not let anyone else see your PIN when you enter it at ATM.

3) Tips on Shopping Online

  • Conduct online purchase with reputable Internet stores.
  • Request for more information about the company, the product and the service before purchasing.
  • Check if the online shop has a return and refunds policy.
  • Print out a copy of the confirmation screen or write down the confirmation details for record whenever you conduct an online purchase. This will make it easier to check against your credit card statement.

If you have to use a password to access a service, make sure that it is not easily identifiable and don't disclose it to anyone.

 4) Tips on Traveling

  • Do not keep cards and cash in the same place, that way you will not lose everything.
  • Keep an eye on your credit card. Do not leave your card unattended e.g. in a hotel room or at the beach.
  • Memorize your PIN if you plan to get local currency from ATM.
  • Check the expiry date on your card and make sure that you have enough funds in your account or the card payments are up-to-date before you leave.

5) Tips on Finance / Interest Charges

  • No interest charge is imposed on new Retail transactions before the statement date which is settled in full.
  • Interest charge will be imposed on Retail transactions after the payment due date until full payment.
  • A fee of 2% or minimum of USD5.00 is charged and interest charge is imposed on the Cash Advance transactions immediately until full payment.
  • A late payment fee of 5% or minimum of USD5.00 will be charged if you fail to make your payment before the payment due date.

Keep track of your statement and make your payment before the due date to avoid any penalty charges.
